A seven-month-old baby girl was shot to death Wednesday afternoon in Brooklyn while her parents were taking her in a stroller.
The baby, whose first name was Kaori, was sitting inside a double stroller with her brother when the mother said “something happened,” the New York Post reported. The “something” heard by the mother eventually turns out to be the sound of gunshots, one of which hits Kaori.
Hearing the sound, the brother jumped and the father picked him up safely.
“I was hugging her, and then when I looked to my left, my daughter was lying there. She had been shot in the head. She was bleeding. It was too much,” the father said.
NBC News reported that the NYPD has launched a manhunt and is asking for the public’s help in locating those involved. CBS News reported that “a person of interest is in custody.”
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch believes the incident was gang-related.
