Action-Survival Game atoms from rebellious development launched on PC, Playstation and Xbox platforms last month. It has also been released on the game pass in a day and has reached more than two million players since then. Jason Kingsley, CEO of the rebel, has said that launching an atomfall on Microsoft’s game subscription service has been a “great success” for independent studios.
Launches an ‘huge success’ of atomfall game pass
In an interview published on Wednesday with Gamesindustries.Biz, Kingsley reflected the launch strategy of the atomfall and said the Xbox game passed the new IP to reach the wider audience.
“It has been a great success,” Kingsley told the publication. “Has been a great companion to work with Microsoft, they have really bent to help us. They have brought their skills and their scale to bear on our small project, and it is really good for them, so they got a good deal, we got a good deal with it.”
Launching on the game pass helped in search of a atom, said Kingsley said, saying that it was one of the biggest challenges for the studio. According to him, the players were likely to try a new IP on service, in which Word-of-Mouth Appreciation attracted a comprehensive audience.
“With the game pass, you can find people to try it, then as a result of those who are trying it, they like it, and they then tell their peers on social media, ‘I found this game on the game near, I really enjoyed it, you must go one.” And then some of them are on the game, and will [play] it. But some of them are not on the pass, and would like to be a part of that conversation. So, they will go and buy it, ”they said.
The rebellion confirmed last week that the atomfall had reached more than two million players. The number unit is not indicated as it includes game pass customers who access the game for free. However, Kingsley said that sports sales had crossed the studio expectations. “We have done much better than our mid-range estimates, in fact, so it’s good,” he said.
Launching on the game pass also guarantees a certain monetary return that helped the rebellion reach profitability with the atom. Kingsley said that while a release on membership service could reduce sales on Xbox, the cost from that cost was “incompatible”.
The CEO of the rebellion also suggested the studio, known for its sniper elite games, working on an atomic sequel. “Now it seems that we want to do more atoms – it has been successful, can we find resources to do it? I don’t know,” he said.
Atomfall was launched on 27 March in PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X. The title of survival, which compared with the fallout, is set in the post-epocalliptic northern England and is inspired by the real-life Windscale nuclear phenomenon in the 1950s. A few days after the launch, the rebellion confirmed that the game had reached more than 1.5 million players in its early weekends, making it the most successful launch in the company’s 32 -year history.
