Australia plans to recognize the state of Palestinian at the United Nations General Assembly next month, confirming Prime Minister Anthony Albanis on Monday.
Albanis said, “Australia will identify the rights of the Palestinian people in a position of their own, based on the commitments received from the Palestinian Authority to Australia.”
Those commitments, he said, Gaza’s demonetisation and holding the hold of elections – a Palestinian government had no role for Hamas. Australia nominated Hamas as a terrorist unit and Albanis on Monday reiterated its government’s group to return the Israeli hostages since the massacre on October 7, 2023.
Albanis said that Australia will work with the international community to make the Palestinian state “reality”.

Albanis said, “A two-state solution is the best hope of humanity to break the cycle of violence in the Middle East and to end conflict, pain and starvation in Gaza.”

The Prime Minister said that the situation there has gone beyond the world’s worst fear. ” He accused the Israeli government of “defying international law and refusing enough help, food and water to disappoint people, including children.”

Albanese’s declaration followed similar announcements from leaders of France, Britain and Canada. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized Australia and other European countries for the move, accusing him of marching in a “rabbit hole”.

In turn, the Australian government has announced Netanyahu’s plans in recent times for a new military aggressive in Gaza.

The Australian leader spoke to Palestinian President Mahmood Abbas last week, who agreed to situations with Western leaders as he prepared to identify the Palestinian kingdom.

“This is an opportunity to provide self -determination for the people of Palestine, which separates Hamas, canceled it and removes it out of the area once and for all,” Albanis said.
To date, about 150 of the 193 United Nations members have recognized the state of Palestine – many of which did so decades ago. The US and its several Western colleagues argued that the Palestinian state should be the last phase of ending the ongoing struggle since 1948.
Meanwhile, Israeli leaders have pushed back a Palestinian kingdom, arguing that it would reward terrorism and greatly reduce the Palestinian authority to strengthen the position of the Authority, which lost control of the Gaza Strip after a violent conflict with Hamas in 2007. The terrorist group has ever ruled Gaja.
The 2025 session of the United Nations General Assembly will start from 9 September and run till 25 September.
