A Russian man convicted of an attack on a woman in London was sentenced to four years in prison by a London court on Friday, as President Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump, watched over a video call.
Matvei Rumiantsev, 23, an MMA fighter, was found guilty by a jury on January 28 of causing bodily harm, but acquitted of rape and strangulation. He was also convicted of perverting the course of justice because he sent a letter to the woman from jail asking her to withdraw her charges.
After the attack, Rumyantsev admitted that he was jealous of his girlfriend’s friendship with President Donald Trump’s 19-year-old son.

Justice Joel Bennathan said, “Your lack of insight and empathy was evident during the trial.” “You keep trying to blame the complainant for whatever happened.”
Trump told investigators that he made a late-night FaceTime call to a woman he met on social media, and was shocked when a shirtless man briefly answered the call on January 18, 2025.
“That scene lasted maybe a second and I was running with adrenaline,” Barron Trump said. “The camera then panned and the victim was seen crying and saying something in Russian.”

Barron Trump called the police in London.
He told an operator, “This is actually an emergency… I’m calling from America, uh, I just got a call from a girl, you know, she’s being beaten.”
Police responded to the address and arrested Rumiantsev, a London-based receptionist.
At his trial at Snaresbrook Crown Court, Rumyantsev was acquitted of strangulation related to the rape and assault, as well as a separate rape and assault charge from November 2024.
Her attorney, Sasha Wass, said Trump was not aware the woman had a boyfriend and questioned how much he might have seen in the few seconds of the video.

Trump never testified in this case. However, the judge praised him for his quick-thinking actions.
“Mr. Trump, despite being in the United States, appropriately and responsibly made sure to call the emergency services here, and he told them what he saw,” she said.
