The Brazilian leftist president had recently asked the citizens of the country not to buy expensive grocery items in an attempt to increase food prices.
In a video being shared online, Brazilian President Luiz Inecio Lula Da Silva urged the Brazilians to be frugal during grocery purchases.
“If you go to the supermarket in Salvador and you suspect that a certain product is expensive, don’t buy it,” he said. “Look, if everyone thinks so and does not buy things that they thought was expensive, whoever is selling, is going to reduce the price to sell it.

“Because if they do not, it is going to deteriorate.”
On Thursday, Da Silva stated that he was concerned about the increase in food prices, but estimated that the growth would slow down and give voice to an optimistic tone about the economy.
Lula said during an interview with radio stations, “Brazil’s economy is living its best moment.”
The leftist leader mentioned that Brazil’s actual US dollar was still at low level, but looks at “adjustment”, “adjustment” according to Reuters.

In January, Brazilian Finance Minister Fernando Hadd said that he hoped that food prices will fall due to strong agricultural production this year.

Hadad said that the authorities have predicted that the Brazilian economy would increase by 2.5% in 2025, which is expected by 3.5% last year.
