Phnom penh: A prominent Cambodian Demining Agency has called Thai soldiers to avoid crossing the territory of the state, warning that the boundary sector landmines are corrupted by the remains of the previous wars.
Cambodian Mine Action and Victim Assistance Authority (CMAA), involved in cleaning the unexplained Armeda (UXO) in the country, stated that the country has been removing unemployed equipment for more than three decades.
The first vice president of CMAA Ly Thuch urged Thai soldiers to avoid entering the Cambodian region for their safety.
“To prevent further dangers, one must stop entering the mine-affected areas. If we stop entering the mine-affected areas, the danger will stop.
“The mines have no eyes, regardless of nationality; whoever steps or touches them will be destroyed,” he reported the latest news today, told the media.
Cambodia said it is still struggling with the dangers of the landmine in its backyard and refuting claims that it was involved in planting explosive equipment along the Thai border.
At the same press conference, Heng Ratana, Director General of Cambodian Mine Action Center, said the UXO, including more than 700 kilometers of disputed area along the Cambodian-Thai border, is unclear.
The two neighbors have recently traded the allegations as Thai soldiers were allegedly injured in a landmine incident along the controversial border of the two countries several days ago.
The Landmine dispute marks the latest flashpoint as the two countries agreed on a ceasefire on 28 July to end the five -day armed clash related to a regional dispute in the Northern Cambodian region.
