NASA and its partners have supported humans living and working continuously in space since November 2000. In fact, global efforts, the International Space Station is visited by more than 280 people from 23 countries and a variety of international and commercial spacecraft. The unique microgravity laboratory has hosted more than 4,000 experiments of over 5,000 researchers in more than 110 countries. Space station is also facilitating research, technology development and crew and cargo transportation facility for the development of a commercial market in the Earth’s orbit.
NASA created a dedicated logo to symbolize this historical achievement. The logo is visible in the image of the space station in the image this July 17, 2025. The Central Astronaut Figure is the representative of all those who have rode and worked at the station during 25 years of human appearance. There are 15 stars in the dark sky of space around the astronaut, a symbol of 15 fellow nations that support the parikrama laboratory.
There is a visual representation of the space station towards the edge of the design, where humans have a continuous appearance for the last 25 years. The Earth represents the planet that the station revolves around and that science is operating in the parikrama laboratory, for the benefit of all. The “25” number “25” is to represent 25 years of human appearance on the integrated space station in the design range.
After 25 years of continuous human appearance, the space station proves the ground for a training and deep space missions, enabling NASA to focus on the Artemis missions on the Moon and Mars.
