Egor Babuskin, co-founder of Elon Musk’s XAI Startup, announced his departure from the company on Wednesday, XA in XA. Babuskin led the engineering teams.
“Today was my last day in XAI, the company in which I helped start with Elon Musk in 2023,” Babuskin wrote in the post. “I still remember the day I met Elon for the first time, we talked about AI for hours and what can be the future. We both realized that a new AI company with a different mission was needed.”
Babuskin is leaving XAI to launch his own venture capital firm, Babuskin Ventures, which he says that he will support AI security research and back startups to support “move humanity and unlock the secrets of our universe.”
XAI co-founder says he was motivated to start the firm after a dinner with Max Tegmark, founder of the Future of the Future of Life Institute, in which he discussed how the AI system could be safely built to encourage the rich of future generations. In his post, Babuskin says that his parents came to America from Russia in search of a better life for their children.
Babuskin’s departure comes after a few months to XAI, in which the company became engrossed in many scams related to its AI Chatbot Groke. For example, Groke was found to be quoting Musk’s personal opinion while trying to answer controversial questions. In another case, XAI’s chatboat went to antisemitic rents and called himself “Mechhitler”. Recently, XAI unveiled a new feature in Groke, which allowed users to create AI-Janit videos similar to naked public figures, such as Taylor Swift.
These scams have overshadled the performance of XAI models many times, which are state -of -the -arts at several benchmarks compared to AI models from Openai, Google Deepmind and Enthropic.
Prior to Xai’s co-founder, Babuschkin was part of a research team in Google Deepmind, which led Alphstar in 2019, a success AI system that could defeat top ranked players in video game Starcraft. Babuschkin also worked as a researcher in Openai, which was in the years before releasing the slut.

In his post, Babuskin gave details of some challenges, which he and Kasturi faced in the construction of XAI. He noted that the industry veterans called the XAI’s goal a target of building their memphis, Tenasi supercomputer as “impossible” in just three months.
The XAI record was capable of building its AI supercomputer in time, however, environmentalists warned that temporary gas turbines that give clusters are pumping emissions in neighboring communities and increasing their health issues for a long time.
Nevertheless, Babuskin says that he is already looking very happy at his time in XAI, and “feels like a proud parents, running away after sending his child to college.”
“I learned 2 precious lessons from Elon: #1 Be fearless in rolling your sleeve to dig into technical problems individually, #2 has a frantic sense of urgency,” Babuskin said.
