An anti-woke super PAC is launching a seven-figure ad blitz in five states to support Pete Hegseth, President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee for Secretary of Defense, Breitbart News has learned.
American Leadership PAC’s $1 million campaign will reach out to constituents in Alaska, North Carolina, Louisiana, South Dakota and Utah via text, television and radio, urging them to contact their senators to support Hegseth.
The ads will run from Friday, January 10 until next week. Hegseth is scheduled to meet with the U.S. Senate Committee on Armed Services on Tuesday for a confirmation hearing on his nomination.
A spokesperson for the group told Breitbart News, “Pete Hegseth is a warrior against indifference in our military and will make an excellent Secretary of Defense.” “It is important that Senate Republicans stand with President Trump and vote to confirm Pete. We will do everything in our power to help him reach the finish line.”
The television ad, “Make Our Military Great Again,” will run in a 30-second slot on Fox News Channel in five states, while the radio ad, which runs 60 seconds, will run on conservative talk radio stations.
A narrator in the video ad says, “Our military is facing a crisis: Recruitment is down, morale is low, our leaders are more focused on staying woke than on killing terrorists and defending America.”
The ad continues, “President Trump has nominated Pete Hegseth to be Secretary of Defense to change things, ban the nonsense in our armed forces, and make our troops feel proud to serve.” “Call your senators, tell them: Stand with Trump, confirm Pete Hegseth, and make our military great again.”
The ads do not name any senators. However, a source at the American Leadership PAC said that while plans to more aggressively call senators in person are not currently in the works, they could be changed if deemed necessary.
Some senators from these states are already supporting Hegseth or reporting positive meetings. For reference, each state’s senators are as follows.
Alaska:
- Its. Lisa Murkowski (R)
- Sen. Dan Sullivan (R)
North Carolina:
- Senator Ted Budd (R)
- Sen. Thom Tillis (R)
Louisiana:
- Senator Bill Cassidy (R)
- Senator John Kennedy (R)
South Dakota:
- Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R)
- Senator Mike Rounds (R)
Utah:
- Senator John Curtis (R)
- Its. Mike Lee(R)
There are indications that many of the meetings have been positive:
Thune, who spoke warmly of Hegseth after their meeting, reportedly told Trump in a recent private conversation that he believed Hegseth would have the votes for confirmation.
American Leadership PAC is committed to ending antitrust in both the private sector and government and has endorsed America First conservative candidates such as Senator Jim Banks (R-IN) and Representative Brian Jack (R-GA).
