The Federal Trade Commission “Un-A-American” is starting an investigation into Big Tech Censorship, seeking response from the American public how their speech has been strengthened by America’s most prominent technical companies.
“Big tech sensorship is not just the United Nations-American, it is potentially illegal. FTC wants you to investigate these potential violations of the law, ”said the Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission Andrew Ferguson on Thursday. “We are asking any person for public submission, who is a victim of tech sensorship (ban, demonetisation, shade restriction, etc.), from the staff of the tech platform, or from anyone else who can highlight these practices and methods. Are. Which they can violate the law. ,
“Today’s declaration is an important step to restore free speech and ensure that Americans are no longer suffering under Big Tech’s atrocities – permanently. I am eager to hear from you, ”said Ferguson.
The Daily Caller said that the agency is asking for public comments on sensorship by the agency Big Tech companies.
“If there was any doubt, Big Tech is on notice. We do not intend to take our legs from gas soon at any time. The censorship and monopoly days are over, ”a senior FTC official told the outlet.
FTC, which is imposed with policing, misleading and anticomotive behavior, said that big technical companies can use policies to obscure their sensorship practices, which can violate the law:
The FTC in the draft document notes that large tech companies can use “opaque or unpredictable” internal policies – separate service from the company’s official service – to sensor the speech of Americans. Big tech companies, FTCs, can sensor the Americans without proper notice or the clarification of what they did wrong, and the material made by the platforms cannot give them a meaningful opportunity to appeal the moderation decisions.
Such practices, FTC warns, can constitute anti -illegal competitive behavior.
Ferguson has long invited the agency to target “illegal collusion” between the Big Tech platform and advertising companies that have been engaged in advertising boycott.
He wrote in a statement in December:
We should not only address the sensor behavior, but also examine the structural issues that may have given their power to these platforms on the life and speech of Americans. In particular, we should strictly enforce the antitrust laws against any platform, which illegally limit Americans independently and openly to exchange ideas. We should prosecute any illegal collusion between online platforms, and the advertiser should face boycott that threatens competition between platforms. [Emphasis added]
“Censorship, even though it is transparent and honest, is unfit for American democracy. The Commission should use the entire limit of its right to protect all Americans’ free speech, ”Ferguson concluded in his statement.
He continued, “The authority involves the power to examine collusion that can suppress the competition and in doing so, press the free speech online. It is known that if we convenient or promote the censorship, we should bust them.
