The new Chancellor of Germany, Frederick Merz, says that his country, as well as its colleagues, have lifted all range restrictions on weapons given in Ukraine.
Merz has tried to maintain diplomatic efforts as it tries to secure a ceasefire with Western support for Ukraine.
“We will do everything in our power to continue to support Ukraine. It also means that we can now defend ourselves by attacking military positions in Russia,” he posted in the social media platform X.

In a statement on Monday, Mars said that the British, French and America would be involved in the range ban on arms delivered to Ukraine.
“This means that Ukraine can also defend himself, for example, attacking military positions in Russia,” Mars said on a platform organized by WDR Public Television. “Until some time ago, this may not happen. … it can now happen.”
He said, “We call this ‘long -range fire’ in the jargon, who supply Ukraine with weapons that attack military goals in Nindland,” he said.

Last week, Merz made a call to protect democracy for Germany and to strengthen the constitutional state amid conflict.
He said, “The original law allows us to live in freedom, peace and security – we are proud of it. But our freedom is being attacked before and without any kind. Therefore, we should stand for a strong constitutional state and defend our democracy every day,” he posted.
Merz’s statements come after Moscow hit Ukraine with over 300 missiles and drones.

Dimitri Peskov, a spokesman from Kremlin, warned that raising the range sanctions would be dangerous in a statement, saying that it is “contrary to our efforts to reach a political settlement”.
Moscow warned the West not to lift the sanctions, claiming that doing so would make the criminal a target for the Kremlin and will face the threat of nuclear weapons.
