The leaders of both Greenland and Panama issued messages to the Congress during their address to the Congress on Wednesday, rejecting the comments made by President Donald Trump, in which they again reiterated their ambitions to capture strategically important areas.
Trump has clarified that he intends to “acquire” both Greenland and Panama Canal, and first refused military intervention to achieve its expansionist goals.
In his joint address to the Congress, the President said that his administration had already taken steps to “withdraw the Panama Canal” and repeated its push to achieve Greenland, which is currently a region of Denmark.

Trump spoke directly to Greenland in his address on Tuesday night and said, “We strongly support your right to determine our future, and if you choose, we welcome you to the United States.”
He said, “We will keep you safe. We will make you rich. And together we will take Greenland to heights as you had never thought before.”
Trump then said that his administration was working with everyone involved to try to achieve it. “
“We really need it for international world security. And I think we are going to receive it,” they continued. “One way or the other, we are going to get it.”
Greenland’s reaction
Greenland Prime Minister Mutete Age on Wednesday made it clear that he is neither interested in American nor Danish ownership.
Eded said in a post on Facebook translated by Reuters, “We don’t want to become Americans, nor Danes, we are Callit (Greenlanders). Americans and their leaders should understand that,” Eidd said in a post on Facebook translated by Reuters.
“We are not for sale and cannot be taken. Our future is determined by us in Greenland,” he said.

Trump looks south
Trump’s comments about the Panama Canal on Tuesday night were equally direct when he said, “My administration will recover the Panama Canal.”
“We have already started doing it,” he said.
Trump has claimed that China has captured important waterways as a Hong Kong-based company operates ports at both ends of the canal-which the administration has claimed that if Beijing directed it, the canal can bite the US from the canal.
However, Panama has repeatedly rejected the claim that China runs a canal.

“Today, a large American company announced that they are buying both ports around the Panama Canal and there are many other things with a couple of Panama Canal and other canals,” Tram said.
Trump’s comments were announced on Tuesday in the context of the Blackrock Inc.-Tail Consortium Deal made with Hutchison Port Holdings, Hong Kong group.
Consortium made from Blackrock Inc., Global Infrastructure Partners and Terminal Investment Limited, “Panama Ports Company (” PPC Transaction “) will acquire 90% interests, owned and operates the ports of Balboa and Christobal in Panama,” according to Tuesday’s press release.
