Hours after Hamza Zainuddin’s dismissal, Bersatu filed a police and MCMC report after its Facebook page was hacked.
Petaling Jaya: If Bersatu thought matters couldn’t get any worse following the dismissal of its vice president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin, it was dealt another blow – hackers took over the party’s Facebook page and wasted no time in causing chaos.
Following the incident, the party’s information chief Tun Faisal Ismail Aziz said Bersatu had rushed to lodge reports with the police, Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) and Meta.
He said that several administrators were removed after the page was hijacked, and a series of posts attacking the party and its leadership were published.

“The uploaded content was unauthorized, does not represent the party’s position and was posted without the consent of the leadership,” Tun Faisal said in a Facebook post today.
Tun Faisal said the party had discovered violations by one of its own page administrators, allegedly linked to a leader who was dismissed the day before.
He stressed that the party is taking the incident seriously, noting that it involves unauthorized digital access and misuse of the official platform to mislead both party members and the public.
“Bersatu has filed a report with Meta to regain control of the page, filed a complaint with MCMC and made a police report to initiate a criminal investigation,” he said.
“The actions may violate the Computer Crime Act, the Communications and Multimedia Act, as well as sections of the Penal Code relating to fraud and defamation.”
Tun Faisal advised the public to ignore any suspicious posts and only trust official statements issued through verified party channels.
Earlier, the hackers were seen mocking the party on their own page, including a cheeky joke: ‘How can Barsatu leaders become Prime Minister when they can’t even manage their Facebook page?’
The breach is believed to have occurred around friday 5 pmIt came just hours after Hamza was removed following a disciplinary board hearing.
As of press time, the posts remained live.
