Warsa: The Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant in Ukraine has been without offsome power for six days, according to the United Nations nuclear watchdog chief Rafael Gossi.
Gosi, Director General of International Atomic Energy Agency, said that he met Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andree Sibiha at Warsaw to discuss the situation.
The plant in South East Ukraine has been under Russian control since the early stages of war.
Oleh Kicov, head of Ukraine’s state nuclear regulatory inspector, said external power shortage is the major threats for atomic and radiation safety.
He called for immediate efforts to quickly restore the external power lines.
IAEA confirmed that during the struggle, the external power lines supplying the plant were supplied for the tenth time last week.
Emergency diesel generators were active to provide necessary electricity.
This power is important to cool the reactor fuel of the plant and prevent a possible recession.
External Affairs Minister Sibiha wrote on X that Russia had stolen the Ukrainian nuclear power plant.
He said that Russia is trying to forcibly integrate the plant in its own grid despite the increasing risk of an atomic event.
Sibiha said that she and the groxy agreed that the world could not allow the situation to continue.
He announced that providing IAEA temporary stewardship on the plant is the only realistic option. – Reuters
