Intel on Monday unveiled two new processor series in the Xeon 6 family. Dubbed Intel Xeon 6700 and Xeon 6500 series, the new processors provide better performance and power efficiency than the previous generation. It is based on the X86 computer architecture and comes up to 86 core. The chipmaker claimed that the newly launched chipset also includes dedicated performance core (P-core) and its objectives are aimed at complex artificial intelligence (AI) functions, traditional venture apps and high-demonstration computing (HPC) solutions.
Intel Xeon 6700/6500 series processor introduced
In a news room post, Chipmaker expanded the new processor in the Intel Xeon 6 family. Along with 6700 and 6500 series, the company unveiled the XEON 6 for the network and the edge, a system-on-chip designed for high performance and power efficiency. In particular, these are not retail-focused processors, and are aimed at data centers instead.
According to the company, Intel Xeon 6700 and 6500 series processors with P-Cores provide 1.4x high performance compared to the fifth generation of the Intel Xeon processor, and with focus on enterprise work, also handle more diverse sets of workloads. Can The company said that it is also designed to work with the AI system and can handle complex tasks.

Compared to the fifth generation AMD EPYC processor, XEON 6700 and 6500 series chipsets are claimed to offer a better performance of 1.5X in AI invention using only two-thirds core. Intel also claimed that chipsets offer an average of a five-year-old server to improve performance-wattic efficiency allowing for 5: 1 consolidation.
Coming into technical specifications, the new chipset features up to 86 core with a thermal design power (TDP) between 150 and 300W. It comes with eight channels of DDR5 MRDIMM (DIMM with multiplex rank, which is 88 lanes for PCIE 5.0, which goes up to 136 lanes for single socket design, as well as 64 lanes CXL 2.0.
On the other hand, Intel Xeon 6 for Network and Edge uses in-built accelerators for virtue access networks (VRAN), Media, AI and network safety. The company said that the processor is designed to address the increasing demand for network and edge solutions in the AI-managed world.
These SOCs provide a 70 percent improvement in display-watt with 2.4X compared to 2.4X compared to the previous generation. The XEON 6 for the network and edge also has an Intel Media Transcode Accelerator, an in-built media accelerator that further improves power optimization.
