Lionel Messi and Inter Miami are set to travel to the White House in March to celebrate their 2025 MLS Cup championship win.
miami: Inter Miami will visit the White House in March to celebrate the club’s 2025 MLS Cup victory.
The Miami Herald reported the trip, citing an unnamed club source, who said “everyone” on the team will attend the ceremony with US President Donald Trump.
The fixture is scheduled for two days before Inter Miami plays DC United in the US capital on March 7.
Argentina superstar Lionel Messi, 38, is expected to be part of the delegation.
Messi was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by former President Joe Biden in January 2025, but he did not attend that White House ceremony.
President Trump’s association with football has increased significantly in recent months.
He has held several meetings with FIFA President Gianni Infantino and hosted a high-profile visit from Cristiano Ronaldo.
Trump also attended the trophy presentation at the Club World Cup in the United States last year.
He was on stage at the draw for the 2026 World Cup, where Infantino presented him with the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize.
Inter Miami concluded a series of international friendlies with a 2-1 win over Independiente del Valle in Puerto Rico on Thursday.
The team lost to Los Angeles FC in its MLS season opener last weekend and will next face Orlando City on Sunday.
