Japan recorded an increase of 3.9% in March exports compared to a year ago on Thursday, with their biggest growth since May 2024, a month after export.
Vikas recalled hopes of growth of 4.5% from economists voted by Reuters, and was less than a jump of 11.4% in February.
According to the region, Japanese exports made the most increase in the Middle East, recorded by 17.1% compared to the same period of a year ago.
Exports to the US, the second largest trading partner in Japan, saw an increase of 3.1%.
The march data does not include the full impact of US President Donald Trump’s tariff. The US had announced a 25% tariff on effective auto imports from April 3, and 25% levy on steel and aluminum came into force on 12 March.
Trump, however, has suspended its “mutual” tariff of 24% on Japan for 90 days, leaving a baseline tariff of 10%.
Trade data also comes as Japan is locked in a trade talks with the US on Thursday, Trump said in a true social post that there was “big progress” in the talks, earlier he said that he would also attend the business meeting. He also wrote that the talks would cover “Tariff, the cost of military support and ‘business fairness”. ,
Japan was reportedly the sixth largest steel exporter in the US in 2024, and the Japanese car brands four of the top eight best -selling brands in the US, with Toyota at the top.
According to customs data, the automobile is Japan’s top exports for 28.3% of all shipments in 2024.
Compared to the expectations of an increase of 3.1% from Reuters Poll, import into Asia’s second largest economy increased by 2%.
Japan’s trade deficit was compressed by 544.1 billion yen, but the 485.3 billion yen’s roots were compared to the expectations of the pole. The deficit in February was 590.5 billion yen.
