Sanae Takachi was formally reappointed as Prime Minister of Japan following his party’s historic election victory earlier this month.
Tokyo: Japan’s lower house has formally re-appointed Sanae Takaichi as Prime Minister.
The reappointment comes 10 days after his historic landslide election victory on February 8.
Takaichi, 64, became Japan’s first female prime minister in October. His party won a two-thirds majority in the snap lower house elections.
He has stated his intention to strengthen Japan’s military, a move likely to further strain relations with China.
There is also pressure on the Prime Minister to boost the country’s weak economy.
