Fifteen military children and veterans completed a 14-day technical training in non-destructive testing, and proceeded to placement in industry under LTAT’s skills programme.
Kuala Lumpur: The first cohort of Lakshman 3.0 Skills Program has completed its intensive technical training phase.
Fifteen children and veterans of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) completed their 14-day training in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) yesterday.
The training culminated in a certificate presentation ceremony at RSA Academy Sdn Bhd, which began on 8 February at the Kemaman Advanced Technology Training Center (ADTEC).
According to the LTAT Foundation, participants went through a comprehensive module covering theory, industry standards, practical real-world training and technical documentation discipline.
“Emphasis was also laid on work integrity, inspection diligence and safety compliance in line with the needs of the high-tech industrial sector,” the foundation said.
NDT is a vital qualification in industries such as oil and gas, aerospace, construction and energy, which require high precision and safety standards.
This initial exposure to a real work environment strengthens participants’ technical foundation before the next phase.
In line with the train and place model of the programme, participants will begin a two-month industry placement from March 1.
This placement allows them to apply their acquired skills in a real work setting, assessed according to current industry qualification standards.
The integrated approach ensures that the program moves beyond short-term training to provide more sustainable and competitive career pathways.
Out of 127 applications received, only 15 participants were selected after a rigorous screening process.
This reflects the high level of competition and confidence of the defense community in this skill development initiative.
“Careful selection also ensures that the participants included are truly prepared to meet the demands of both training and industry,” the foundation said.
Laxman 3.0 follows an MoU signed in May 2025 between the LTAT Foundation and the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology.
Group 2 is scheduled to start in April, Group 3 will start in August, a total of 40 participants will be targeted this year as per the phased plan.
