Former NFL champion Malcolm Jenkins has praised Philadelphia Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts, who is for leaving his team’s super bowl victory at the White House.
President Trump welcomed Philadelphia Eagles at the White House on Monday, but Jalan Hurts was not in appearance due to the alleged “scheduling conflict”. In an article by Substac, Malcolm Jenkins, who opposed the US national anthem and rejected the invitation to the White House after winning the Super Bowl with Eagles in 2018, hurting himself to bring himself into a position as a “selfless leader”.
“He strengthens himself as a selfless leader, ready to risk comfort to respect his values,” Jenkins wrote. “He strengthens his integrity and cultural capital, in a way some athletes get anytime. He shows the next generation what it looks like to stand on theory, not only applause. He is involved in a tradition of athletes, which uses his extreme to pursue the conversation, not far from them.”
“The leadership is not just about leading just one team,” Jenkins said. “This is about leading a conversation. And Jalan hurts – whether it feels it or not – just entered the highest level in that conversation.”
Hurts has not indicated that he left the visit to the White House in protest against President Trump.
Jenkins also attacked fellow Eagle Sacwon Barcale to spend time with Trump before visiting the White House.
“It was disappointing, very least to say, but I think the honor works in both ways,” Jenkins wrote. “Every man has to walk his own way. But neutrality is not neutrality in time. And even silence becomes a statement.”
On Monday, Barkley responded to criticism in a social media post and defended his time with President Trump.
“Perhaps I just respect the office, not a difficult concept to understand. It was just a golf with Obama … and ready to complete his round with Trump! Now take out my mentions with all this politics and have a wonderful day,” he said.
