Meghan Markle shared a romantic new video of herself with her husband Prince Harry in 2016, as well as a throwback photo of the two as they celebrated their nearly decade-long romance.
On Saturday, the Duchess of Sussex, 44, took part in the viral “2026 is the new 2016” trend, in which social media users are celebrating the New Year with throwback photos from ten years ago.
Markle posted a black and white video from this year, showing her dancing on a lawn with Harry, 41, — as well as a photo of the couple, taken during a trip to Botswana, Africa in 2016, just weeks after they first met.

In the clip, Markle was wearing baggy shorts and a short-sleeved white shirt, while Harry was wearing pants and a T-shirt.
The former “Suits” actress was seen dancing toward Harry on a spacious lawn before the pair hugged and kissed. The couple then began dancing with each other and at one point Harry bent his wife’s back.
The video, which was set to Olivia Dean’s 2025 song “So Easy (To Fall in Love)”, ended when Harry picked up Markle and she wrapped her legs around his waist.

During an interview with the BBC in November 2017, Harry and Markle recalled that they first met in early July 2016 in London after a mutual friend set them up on a blind date.
The two hit it off immediately and had two back-to-back dates soon after their first meeting. Harry recalled that a few weeks later, he asked Markle to go with him on a camping trip in Botswana.

“I think about three, maybe four weeks later I managed to convince her to come with me to Botswana,” he said via People magazine. “And we – we camped with each other under the stars, we hung out – she came and stayed with me there for five days, which was absolutely fantastic.”
“Just — take time to go on a long walk across the country and talk,” Markle said.
Harry said it didn’t take him long to realize that Markle was the person.

Speaking to the BBC, Markle said the pair were able to enjoy their relationship for several months before it went public. At the time, she was shooting her USA Network TV show “Suits” in Toronto, Canada, while Harry was living in London.
“We spent a good five, six months with privacy, which was amazing,” he said. “I think we really had that much time to connect and we never went more than two weeks without seeing each other, even though we were obviously having a long-distance relationship. So it is — we made it work.”
