A Malaysian job seeker has sparked debate online after sharing a WhatsApp exchange with a hiring manager who had an unexpectedly harsh reaction when she politely declined a job offer.
In the Threads post, he politely informed the hiring manager that he had accepted another offer from a different company because it better aligned with his long-term goals.

“Emm, thanks for wasting everyone’s time.”
He expressed surprise in the comments section that an employer or HR should not talk to a candidate like this.
“Just respond politely, even if you feel the candidate wasted your time. It’s part of the hiring process anyway.”
He also explained that he was posting about this issue, not to badmouth the company, but to allow candidates to review the offer letter and decide whether to accept or reject it.
“It takes time, probably about a week, especially in my case where I had multiple offers from different companies.”
Many Malaysians felt that the answer was unprofessional and validated the candidate’s decision.
