On MSNBC’s “Deadline” on Friday, host Nicole Wallace claimed President Donald Trump’s MAGA coalition is falling apart.
Wallace said, “With every inch of marble and gold plating that Donald Trump has personally directed installed inside the White House, with every spectacular party, even a Gatsby party, every foreign dignitary, every business tycoon, every tech mogul billionaire who has been wined and dined very lavishly by Donald Trump, there is a feeling among his once very loyal supporters that when Donald Trump said America first, he really I mean, the cracks in the MAGA coalition are getting bigger by the day.
He added, “Donald Trump’s political reputation is falling as he publicly moves away from his election promises he made to the country and, crucially, for this conversation, from his own supporters only 12 months ago. As New York Times put it this way, ‘President Trump is dining with Wall Street bigwigs. He has initiated a grand overhaul of the White House at a time when Americans are struggling to pay their bills. He has hired skilled people. He approved a $20 billion bailout for Argentina, helping a foreign government and wealthy investors, at a time when the U.S. government was shutting down for a president who returned to office promising to avoid foreign entanglements, make life more affordable, and ensure that available jobs go to American citizens. This is a significant deviation from the expectations of his loyal base, and it ‘Starting to create a rift with his supporters, who were counting on a more aggressive populist agenda.’ Add to all this, as today’s New York Times reported, his campaign promise to release the Epstein files and his public betrayal of Trump’s Republican allies, at least some of them are getting their red lines across.
