New South Wales Premier Chris Minns has pushed for tighter gun controls after two terrorists killed 15 innocent people on Sydney’s Bondi Beach on Sunday evening.
fox news published A video of Minns responding to a reporter who asked if gun control could be made more strict.
“The short answer is ‘yes,'” Minns said.
He continued, “This requires legislation, and that means introducing a bill into Parliament – I mean, to be really blunt – to make it more difficult to obtain these horrific weapons that have no practical use in our community.”
“If you’re not a farmer, if you’re not involved in agriculture, why do you need these big weapons that put the public at risk and make life dangerous and difficult for New South Wales Police,” Minns said.
He did not say whether the two terrorists – one of whom was legally carrying a gun during the attack – were farmers or otherwise involved in agriculture. Nor did they say how often farmers or other people working in agriculture actually misuse firearms.
Minns also did not explain whether making it more difficult for law-abiding citizens to obtain guns for self-defense would allow law-abiding citizens to better protect themselves.
