“By our baptism we were resurrected to new life in Christ, raised from the dead. Today, let us be strong in faith, hope and love, so that with compassion and boldness we may proclaim the joy of the Risen Lord! We especially pray for all those baptized and confirmed tonight – may God bless and preserve them in the gift of faith!” Cathedral said.
Duffy explained that what was happening had nothing to do with his efforts.
He said, “There’s nothing I’m doing as a priest. The fact is that the message of Jesus Christ is being proclaimed, and that message touches hearts here in Rockville Center and far beyond.”
Meanwhile, more than 700 adults in Paris, France, reportedly planned a reception at a Catholic church during an Easter vigil, EWTN News reported Friday:
Across France, more than 13,000 adults will be baptized this Easter – an increase of 28% compared to 2025, according to data released by the French Bishops’ Conference.
The “boom” in adult baptism in France is a relatively recent phenomenon. This has intensified over the past decade, with a significant acceleration following the COVID-19 pandemic and reaching record levels since 2024.
In fact, the number of people converting to Catholicism in the US was increasing, as Breitbart News reported on March 29.
According to Bishop Robert Barron, the church broke the record for the number of adults converting last year and did so again this year. He said many adults have expressed a hunger for the truth.
He said, “St. Augustine said, ‘Lord, you made us for yourself, and so our heart is restless until it rests in you,’ and it’s true. There’s a longing in the heart that can’t be satisfied by anything in this world, and so religion speaks to that.”
In February, President Donald Trump celebrated a return to faith that was spreading across the country while speaking at the National Prayer Breakfast, according to Breitbart News.
“To be a great nation, though, I think, and I could be wrong, but I don’t think because I’ve seen a lot and I’ve studied a lot, you have to have religion. You have to have it. You have to have faith. You have to have God,” he also said, adding, “Thankfully, as we gather today, there are many signs that religion is coming back, and it’s no longer a sign. It’s just coming back. It’s coming back so strongly.”
