Samsung and GSMA have entered the Samsung Galaxy-branded handsets in a collaborative attempt to improve connectivity. The phone of the company running on Android 15 will now come up with a UI 7 skin with a sound of LTE (VoLTE), which are capable by default in supported areas. Currently, users need to manually enable VoLTE connectivity on equipment supported, so the decision to enable the facility should ensure that it is accessible to many more users. VoLTE support for smartphones is asked to improve both voice call quality and 4G and 5G network connectivity. VoLTE availability may vary by network provider or field.
Samsung Galaxy Phone to support VoLTE with a UI 7 now
GSMA and Samsung on Wednesday announced a partnership, which allows Samsung Galaxy phones to be shipped with Android 15 or later default with competent vault. When the handsets are connected to 4G and 5G networks, the quality of voice calls is expected to improve.
Most Galaxy-branded smartphones introduced over the years-including recently launched Galaxy S25 Series-Sports VoLTE connectivity. However, users need to enable it manually. The move to enable this standard by default is important as most telecom operators are moving away from 2G and 3G networks in favor of 4G and 5G connections.
GSMA states that Samsung uses its network settings exchange (NSX) and interoperability testing services, which allows VoLTE to automatically enable. Companies claim that the supported phones “use the” operator-defined IMS settings “through NSX or default for GSMA profile #4 if necessary. ,
NSX is a centralized platform according to GSMA, recognizes the distribution of mobile network settings ranging from operators to device manufacturers (OEMS). This enables uploading, managing and allocating the latest network settings to mobile network operators (MNO) and mobile virtual network operators (MVNOS).
Using GSMA NSX, network operator can share IMS-specific settings with device manufacturers to guarantee service benefits and inter-specifications. The devices can be pre-configured by each operator based on shared network settings.
On the other hand, extended by GSMA provides interoperability testing service, “a suit of verification equipment” that ensures “operator-device compatibility for VoLTE before commercial deployment”. The company further mentions that Samsung has “aligned its test with GSMA-STADARD VOLTE test processes,” which outlines the importance of industry-wide cooperation.
