Four new faculty members are involved in this decline in the School of Architecture and Planning (SA+P), which offer MIT community creativity, knowledge and scholarships in multi -radical roles.
“These people add a lot of strength and depth to our faculty,” says Hashim Sarkis, Dean of the Architecture and Planning School. “We are excited for the educational power that brought for research and teaching.”
Karri ji. Karhlios ’94, Meng ’95, SM ’97, PhD’ is included in the MIT Media Lab as a complete professor of media arts and sciences. Karhlios is a pioneer in the discovery of social media and how people communicate in an environment that are rapidly mediation by the algorithms, as he wrote, “Shape the world around us.” His work combines computing, system, artificial intelligence, anthropology, socialji, psychology, game theory, design and infrastructure studies. The work of Karhlios was for the National Science Foundation Career Award, Alfred P. Slone Research Fellowship, Sigmod Best Paper Award, and ACM have received many honors including recognition as prestigious members.
Pat Patranutaporn SM ’18, PHD ’20 MIT Media Lab consists of an assistant professor of media arts and sciences. A visionary technologist, scientist and designer, Pataranutaporn examines the limits of human-AI interactions, inventing and investigating AI systems supporting human prosperity. Their research focuses on how individually AI systems can increase human feeling, from learning and decision making to self-development, reflection and welfare. Pataranutaporn AI will co-directed humans moving forward with the program.
Mariana Popasku The architecture joins the architecture department as an assistant professor. Popescu is a computational architect and structural designer, with a strong interest and experience in innovative methods for the use of materials in the construction process and construction. The area of its expertise is computational and parametric design, which focuses on digital construction and sustainable design. Their comprehensive participation in projects related to promoting stability has led to a multilateral development of skills, which combines areas of architecture, engineering, computational design and digital manufacture. Popasku received his doctoral degree in Ath Zurich. He was named “Pioneer” MIT technology review Global list of “35 innovators under 35 innovators 35” in 2019.
Holi samuelson The Building Technology Program at MIT involves the Department of Architecture as an associate professor, teaching architectural technology courses. His teaching and research focuses on issues of manufacturing design that affects human and environmental health. Their current projects use advanced building simulations to check greenhouse gas emissions, heat vulnerability and indoor environmental quality issues, considering the future of buildings in a changing power grid. Samuelson has won the Best Paper Award from the journal and co-star more than 40 peer-review papers. Energy and buildingAs a recognized specialist in architectural technology, he is painted in news outlets Washington Post, Boston GlobeBBC, and The Wall Street JournalSamuelson earned his doctor of design from Harvard University Graduate School of Design.
