Two to three people survived a US military drone strike on a drug-smuggling ship in the Caribbean on Thursday, a US official told Fox News.
The partially sunken ship, described by the source as “large”, was operating in international waters when it hit.
The official said the US military launched search and rescue resources, including a rescue helicopter, but it was unclear whether any of the survivors were rescued.
The seriousness of his injuries was not immediately known, the official said.

As first reported by Reuters, Thursday’s incident is the first known incident of survivors since the US military began its campaign of deadly strikes against suspected drug boats.
The drone strike is at least the sixth known incident in a quiet but intensifying US military campaign targeting drug boats.
The operation began last month and is linked to President Trump’s broader effort to dismantle international cartels.
