Police found two opioid pills on golf legend Tiger Woods after a rollover crash last week in Florida, according to an affidavit released Tuesday, leading to his latest arrest for driving under the influence.
Woods, who said he looked down at his phone as the two cars collided, had “bloodshot and glassy eyes,” “extremely dilated pupils,” and was “sweating profusely” because he was sitting in another vehicle, which had the air conditioning on when police arrived, the affidavit said.
“Woods’ movements were sluggish and slow,” a Martin County Sheriff’s deputy wrote in the affidavit. “Woods faced some difficulties throughout the investigation.”
“I asked Woods if he used any illegal substances and he said no,” the deputy said. “I asked Woods if he had any alcoholic beverages to drink today, to which he said ‘Nothing.’ “
“I asked Woods if he took any prescription medications, to which he replied, ‘I take some,'” the deputy wrote.
During a subsequent search, police found “two white pills” inside the golfer’s left pants pocket, according to the affidavit. Identification of the marks revealed that the pills were hydrocodone, an opioid drug.
“I asked Woods if he had any medical conditions,” the deputy wrote in the affidavit. “Woods advised that he has had seven back surgeries and more than twenty leg surgeries.”
President Donald Trump, whose former daughter-in-law Vanessa Trump is dating Woods, told The New York Post on Tuesday that Woods is “living a life of pain” due to previous injuries, but is “doing very well” after the accident, the newspaper reported.
Police said the crash occurred when Woods, who was driving a black Land Rover, drove right into the rear of a white Ford F-150 truck with an attached trailer.
As the truck slowed to turn right into the driveway, Woods’ vehicle “plunged forward,” traveling over the double solid line, the affidavit said.
Woods’ Land Rover struck the left rear fender of the truck’s trailer, “lost control and overturned onto the driver’s side,” the deputy wrote.
Woods told the deputy that “he looked at his cell phone and he didn’t realize [the truck] had slowed down,” the affidavit states. Woods, who also claimed he was “changing the radio station” at the time, “did not report any injuries resulting from the collision,” police said.
The driver of the truck told police he helped Woods out of the rolled SUV
Woods submitted to a breath test, which found no alcohol in his system. But according to the police, he refused to submit to the urine test.
Woods was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, destruction of property, and refusing to submit to a urine test.

In February 2021, Woods crashed and rolled over his SUV in Southern California, severely injuring his right leg.
The golfer continued to deal with the consequences of that accident, undergoing multiple surgeries.
Woods was arrested for DUI in Florida in May 2017 after police found him sleeping in a damaged car.
Following that arrest, the prescription drugs Vicodin, Dilaudid, Xanax, Ambien were found in his system, as well as THC, the psychoactive chemical in marijuana.
A month after his arrest in that case, Woods entered a clinic for prescription pain medication and treatment for a sleep disorder.
