After the Trump administration, Palestinian leader Mahmood Abbas refuses a visa, Iran, Sudan, Zimbabwe – and even weighing new sanctions on the Brazilian delegation – ahead of the United Nations General Assembly at the end of this month in New York.
According to a memorandum by an internal state department reviewed by the Associated Press, the restrictions may be effective before the conjunction of the General Assembly on 22 September.
The inclusion of Brazil is the most surprising, as the country traditionally places a place of respect during the meeting of world leaders.

Measures are still under consideration and come as the Trump administration has continued its comprehensive visa crackdown, both current visa holders and those seeking admission for the United Nations meeting.
A proposal will stop Iranian diplomats – who are already facing tight sanctions in New York – from shopping in wholesale stores such as Costco and Sam Club to the state department’s approval.
The Iranian diplomats have long used those shops to buy unavailable wholesale goods at home and have sent them back at a relatively low cost.

It is not clear whether or when shopping ban will be effective. The memorandum drafted the rules, which will allow the State Department to implement the conditions on wholesale club membership for all foreign diplomats in the US
It is also not clear whether a ban will apply to Brazilian President Luiz Eneasio Lula da Silva or other representatives participating in the General Assembly.
Traditionally, the President of Brazil gave the first address on Opening Day, followed by the US President.
Rubio, citing national security, opens up the use of Harvard’s international visa.
