President Donald Trump addressed the nation after three people, including two National Guardsmen, were shot dead in Washington DC on Wednesday.
The president said the attack, reportedly carried out by an Afghanistan national brought into the country under Joe Biden in 2021, was a “crime against our nation.”
“This heinous attack was an act of evil, an act of hatred and an act of terror,” the president said. “This was a crime against our entire country. This was a crime against humanity. Americans stand with those two West Virginia National Guardsmen and their families tonight.”
The President further pledged that the “animals” who committed the crime will be brought to justice. He also said the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) believes the culprit is an Afghan national whom President Joe Biden brought back from Afghanistan in 2021 after his failed coup.
“He was brought in by the Biden administration in September 2021,” Trump said. “Nobody knew who was coming. Nobody knew anything about it. Their situation was escalated by a law signed by President Biden. A disastrous president – the worst in the history of our country.”
The President also called for an investigation into individuals brought from Afghanistan during that time period.
As Breitbart News reported, “Three people, including two National Guardsmen, were shot in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday afternoon, prompting a lockdown at the White House.”
The alleged shooter is in custody, WJLA reported.
The condition of the injured Guardsman was not known, the Associated Press reported. The Joint DC Task Force confirmed that the incident occurred “in the vicinity of the White House.”
new York Times Later reporting that the shooting occurred “near the entrance to the Farragut West subway station”, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth described the act as “cowardly” and said it would “only strengthen our resolve to make sure we make Washington DC safe and beautiful.”
