Dana White and the UFC have announced the lineup of fighters for the massive “Freedom 250” fight event scheduled for the White House in June.
According to TMZ Sports, lightweight champion Ilya Topuria and interim lightweight champion Justin Gaethje receive top billing for the event to be held on the grounds of the White House in Washington, DC, on Sunday, June 14.
The co-headlining duties have been assigned to Alex Pereira and Cyril Gane, who will compete for the interim heavyweight belt.
TMZ said, “The rest of the main card rounds out like this… “Suga” Sean O’Malley vs. Aiman Zahabi, Mauricio Raffi vs. Michael Chandler, Bo Nickal vs. Kyle Daukaus, and Diego Lopes vs. Steve Garcia.”
A key point of these fights is that, with the exception of the Pereira-Gains fight, each will involve an American fighter.
This program is going to be held in the South Lawn in front of a limited crowd.
President Trump confirmed a UFC event at the White House in October.
In recent weeks, White has hit back at accusations that he has “politicized” the UFC because of his close ties to Trump.
Last week, White told cbs sunday morning She and the President have been good friends for 20 years, long before Trump ran for president. He said that his fans understand his “authenticity”.
“How about you be authentic and just be you? How about that? Just be authentic. You don’t have to agree with me, and you don’t have to like it; and I don’t have to agree with you, but we can all still get along. I mean, that’s how it’s supposed to work,” White said.
