The Sanskrit words “yuga”, meaning age, and “adi”, meaning beginning, are the origin of the word Yugadi. According to the luni-solar calendar, this celebration marks the beginning of a new year. On this lucky day people visit various temples and worship the Lord. They prepare various dishes and sweets and share them with friends, family and relatives as part of their celebrations.
