Pope Francis faced two acute respiratory crises on Monday, a complex medical condition that was less dangerous than Friday’s bronchospasm, the Vatican announced.
According to the Vatican, the breathing crisis was “due to the significant accumulation of the endobronicial mucus and the resulting bronchospasm.” “So two bronchoscopy required abundant discharge aspirations.”
“In the afternoon, non-invasive mechanical ventilation was resumed,” it was added to a statement. “Holy father always remains vigilant, oriented and ally. The diagnosis of the disease is preserved.”
Bronchospasm is defined by the American Academy of allergies, asthma and immunology as “a contraction of the muscle coat of the bronchial tubes”, which results in “a narrow and obstruction of the breathing airways.”
