“After months of being terrorized by Trump’s immigration thugs, over 200,000 people stood up to authorities in St. Paul, Minneapolis,” Colbert said, bringing up the chaotic anti-Trump “No Kings” protests that took place in several cities on Saturday.
The left-wing host then displayed several images of the protesters’ signs as well as their inflatable costumes, before he took particular interest in one display, which bizarrely featured a giant inflatable balloon depicting Trump pouring flames over the US Constitution.
Colbert said, “One day, his grandchildren will ask him how he resisted the rise of American fascism.”
“And they can proudly say, ‘Well, Tyler, your grandmother and I worked around the clock with a team of fellow patriots to answer democracy’s eternal question: Can we make an anger balloon that looks like it’s spewing fire?'” he quipped.
