Where is the cut coming from? The Wall Street Journal (through the Advisory Board) reports that these cuts are included:
- 3,500 full -time employee from FDA (about 19%of its workforce)
- 2,400 employees from CDC (about 18%of its workforce)
- 1,200 employees from NIH (about 6%of its workforce)
- 300 employees from CMS (about 4%of its workforce)
Job cuts will not affect FDA inspectors or drugs, medical equipment or food critics.
The administration for a healthy America will add the following agencies to one unit:
- Assistant secretary office for health
- Health Resources and Services Administration
- Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration
- Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry
- National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health
