A 23-year-old medical student missing for two weeks in a remote mountain range in Australia has been found.
Hadi Nazari of Melbourne went missing on December 26, 2024, when he became separated from two hiking companions while taking photographs in Kosciusko National Park in the Snowy Mountains in New South Wales state, the Associated Press reports.
Police said on Wednesday that he survived on two muesli bars, wild berries and creek water.
He was rescued on Wednesday afternoon when he approached a group of hikers and told them he was lost and thirsty, Police Inspector Josh Broadfoot said.

The hiker had traveled more than six miles through steep and densely wooded terrain from where he was last seen. More than 300 people searched for him in the national park, which is home to 7,310-foot-tall Mount Kosciuszko.

Searchers were optimistic that Nazari would be found alive. He was an experienced traveler equipped with a tent. Searchers had found his campfire, camera and hiking poles in recent days, indicating he was constantly on the move.
