
An American missionary who was detained for more than a year in Tunisia was released on Sunday.
Officials received the release of American citizen Robert Viera on Sunday afternoon, citing American Special Envoy Adam Bohaler, according to a Reuters report.
Bohaler told The outlet that the Viera was working when he was detained by Tunisian officials 13 months ago.
Officials allegedly suspected Viera of espionage.

Tunisia, the North African country of Algeria and Libya, was responsible for the release of Viera after working in Tunisia, Bohaler, Mohammad Ali Nafti.
After releasing on Sunday, Viera along with her family went back home to America.

Boheller said, “We appreciate Tunisia’s decision to resolve the matter and allow Shri Viera to be reunited with our family after pre-trial detention of over 13 months.”
Bohaler credited his cooperation with Nafty to achieve the release of the captive.
