It’s impossible to celebrate America’s 250th birthday without acknowledging the importance of art, culture, and storytelling. As part of Breitbart’s special coverage for the 250, we reached out to some of Nashville’s most talented songwriters and artists and asked them to write original songs that reflect how they feel about America. The acoustic performance you will see marks the first time anyone has heard these songs and the first time these songs have been performed by their respective writer-artists. Breitbart has teamed up with SiriusXM to create a special broadcast that will air around July 4 featuring all of these songs in succession. We’re proud to present our readers with what we call the American Soundtrack.
About 5 years ago, Breitbart’s COO and singer-songwriter of the Trump anthem “Fighter,” John Kahn, was headed to Nashville for a writing trip to chase down some songs, as he puts it. The night before their first writing session, the publisher emailed them and said the other writer’s truck had broken down in Texas and he wouldn’t be able to attend the session… but then the publisher said, “But why don’t you write with Michael Farren?” Done. The next day, the two songwriters met for the first time and did not even pick up their guitars for a few hours. They just talked…about life, faith, the human condition…and they wrote their first song together.
Since then, they have become close friends and collaborators, have written nearly a dozen songs, and were one of three singer-songwriters for the inaugural Farren Breitbart. American songwriter special, where he gave a moving rendition of a song he co-wrote for country star Lee Brice, called checking in.
Their musical relationship and friendship, in many ways, parallels the song they contributed to Breitbart’s B250 American soundtrack. Farren comes from Texas. Kahn, from L.A. Farren, a preacher’s son. Kahan is the son of a doctor. Farren’s musical roots are worship-based, and he has won multiple Dove Awards, and has been nominated for a Grammy for Lauren Daigle’s now-platinum single. believe in you. He also wrote the title track of Reba McEntire’s Grammy-winning album sing it nowAlso global worship song let it RainJoe Michael W. Featured on Smith’s RIAA certified double platinum album “Worship”.
Kahn’s musical journey began with film. As a writer-director in Hollywood, his songs found a place in many films, TV shows and commercials. Coming from the world of 90s rock, he has worked with members of The Wallflowers, Creed and Foo Fighters.

different backgrounds. Different musical roots. Different styles but when they get in a room together to write music, as the song says United Saints of America…. “Somehow it works.”
His song is about this. It’s about the beauty and diversity of the people who make this country – those who make it great, not those who make it great despite this our differences, but Because Them and the two writers included many things in the song:
“I will admit that we have scoundrels
Robber and Joker
we got cowboys and preachers
who love a horse town
We got the white collar bright lights and big shiny cars of the big city
We got farmers on tractors who feed us all
North and South
blue and red
but it made something beautiful
Yes, these colors are beautiful”
Farren told Kahn, also the host of American Soundtrack, that he had been working on the title “The United Saints of America” for some time. “What does this make of [America] The work doesn’t have to be aesthetic,” he said. “It’s all about the people in it. So I wondered if there was a way to disambiguate what it means to be a person who loves the county, loves this beautiful republic, in a way that’s just enough ‘I can wildly disagree with you and that’s OK. I can still walk with you like a brother and love you.”

Farren and Kahn certainly solved this and created something beautiful and promising. In fact, they were so excited about the song, they went into the studio and recorded it together, featuring both of their voices. that version of United Saints of America It will be released next week and we’ll be featuring it here at Breitbart.com.

This is not the glory of the purple mountains
This is not a fruitful field
This is no shimmering sunset
cross the amber waves of grain
These are the shoulders of the people
from a thousand lands
who did not see anything
but dreams are in their hands
and created something beautiful
they still make it beautiful
you can say whatever you want
you can throw stones
But on his worst day
It’s still home sweet home
You can’t steal an idea whose roots are deep in dust and blood
I have completely surrendered
but you can’t break it
hell or high water
he’s the flag waver
If you want to know what keeps this crazy thing going
This is the United Saints of America
I will admit that we have scoundrels
Robber and Joker
we got cowboys and preachers
who love a horse town
We got the white collar bright lights and big shiny cars of the big city
We got farmers on tractors who feed us all
North and South
blue and red
but it made something beautiful
yes, these colors are beautiful
you can say whatever you want
you can throw stones
But on his worst day
It’s still home sweet home
You can’t steal an idea whose roots are deep in dust and blood
I have completely surrendered
but you can’t break it
hell or high water
about to wave the flag
If you want to know what keeps this crazy thing going
This is the United Saints of America
Bible Belt Buckle
On the road where there is no church
it’s hard to explain
but somehow it works
And I challenge you to find me a braver soldier
From those who greet the stars and stripes every day
you can say whatever you want
you can throw stones
But on his worst day
It’s still home sweet home
You can’t steal an idea whose roots are deep in dust and blood
a lot of bending happened
but you can’t break it
hell or high water
about to wave the flag
If you want to know what keeps this crazy thing going
Yes, if you want to know what keeps this crazy thing going
This is the United Saints of America
