US Treasury Secretary Scott Besant will meet with China’s Vice Premier He Lifant in Malaysia next week to try to make progress on trade.
“We will meet in person next week to continue our discussions,” Besant wrote, after saying they had spoken on the phone on Friday and had detailed discussions. Trump will also visit Hungary next week to meet Vladimir Putin.
Trump has repeatedly signaled that ‘China will be fine’ on trade and this, despite the threat of 100% tariffs, has left the market relatively optimistic.
