
A bushfire broke out in Eaton Canyon near Altadena, just north of Pasadena, amid the Los Angeles wildfires Tuesday, which have been made worse by severe storms that swept through the area.
The fire reportedly broke out in the area above Altadena around 6:40 p.m. and has since engulfed more than 400 acres with wind gusts in excess of 100 mph. Per CBS News:
According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the fire was first reported in the upper Altadena area around 6:40 p.m. Initial data from firefighters shows the fire has engulfed about 20 acres of bushland and is burning upwards.
Pasadena Fire Department personnel say the flames are becoming erratic and spreading rapidly due to strong winds in the area.
Photos and videos of the fire immediately began circulating online.
A massive wildfire broke out in Pacific Palisades amid the ongoing storm, which officials said could be the worst fire in the Los Angeles area since the 2011 storm, which destroyed large areas of the city, Breitbart News reports. “A wildfire that burned rapidly in the mountains above the Pacific Palisades amid extremely high winds Tuesday morning threatened homes and a local public school, prompting evacuations,” Breitbart News previously reported.
“The fire started in bushes near Palisades Drive in the Paseo Miramar neighborhood and spread quickly,” it said.
