In a post on X (East Twitter), CEO Sam Altman announced that the company would provide free access to students in the US and Canada. Openai requires users to verify their student’s status through the safe verification system of the sheerid before claiming access to the cousin for unqualified Chatgpt Plus membership. Students who are already paying for service will get two months access without any additional cost.

The free version of Chatgpt provides access to Chatgpt-4o mini with limited access to GPT-4o and O3-Mini models, while plus membership provides access to deep research and multiple logic models. These include O1, O3-Mini and O3-Mini-High. The paid subscription also provides access to a research preview of the GPT-4.5 model which was declared in February.
The Chatgpt Plus also allows users to upload more files, send more messages and generate more images than users on free tier. Customers also have access to advanced voice MDE with video and screenshore support.
Openai Chatgpt Plus allows customers to create custom GPT and enables users to try upcoming facilities on the platform. A subscription for Chatgpt Plus also provides limited access to the Sora video generation, which is not available on free tier.
