Outside Floral Fantasy, 4 meters tall magician’s apprentice mickey Marks the entrance and welcomes visitors to Gardens by the Bay.
The hand-collected topiaries are crafted from more than 40 species of preserved and dried floral material, taking more than 16,000 man hours.
Each material was chosen according to its color, texture, and form, which helped reflect the characteristics of each character. For example, a lot of flowers are used for the Disney princesses, while Rapunzel’s hair is made from Stipa, a perennial grass with hairy or oat-like flowers.
The surrounding landscape also utilizes a palette of plants that reflect the mood of each region – sunflowers and marigolds reflect the honey-toned meadow setting of Winnie the Pooh, while lilies and roses evoke the romantic and jewel-toned setting of the Disney Princess stories. Hydrangeas and Dusty Miller highlight the icy blue, white and silver hues frozen.
Throughout the Garden of Wonder’s run, visitors can enjoy select weekend meet-and-greet sessions with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in costumes inspired by Singapore’s national flower, Wanda Miss Joaquim. Donald Duck and Daisy Duck will also join the experience on select weekends, ready to soak up the sun on our tropical island.
