KUla Lumpur: Edotco Malaysia and Digital National BHD (DNB) has collaborated to convert Langkavi with Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) into the first 5G-capable digital tourism hub of Malaysia.
In a joint statement today, he said that the initiative is an important leap in Malaysia’s digital change, which takes advantage of the next generation connectivity to bring revolution in tourism experiences, smart infrastructure and economic opportunities on the island.
“As part of this initiative, Edotco and DNB will work closely with LADA to ensure that the 5G infrastructure is aligned with the tourism and economic goals of the island. High -speed connectivity will be expanded in major tourist hotspots including Langcovi Sky Bridge, Geocytes, Painting Senangs and Meger Hotels.”
To adopt the industry, Edoteco, DNB, and Lada will host the first industry workshop in Langakavi next month. The workshop will bring together hotel operators, tour agencies, technology providers and local businesses to find out how the 5G-operated solutions can redefine the tourism sector.
Malaysia’s business director Gayan Corlage said that digital infrastructure is only one aspect of a successful change.
In this change, Edotco and DNB will jointly focus on promoting innovation and industry engagement.
“The workshop with Lada will determine the foundation for a long -term digital change strategy in Langkawi.
He said, “We aim to empower businesses to tap in new revenue currents through digital innovations like Smart Hotel Management System, Contactless Services and Artificial Intelligence -Drive Customer Insights.”
Meanwhile, Lada CEO Datuk Hamlina Abdul Hamid said that Langakavi is not only a world -level famous tourist center, but also a destination for prestigious international sports events.
“High-speed connectivity will support real-time data analytics for athletes, enabling immersive live streaming for global audiences, and will enhance the event logistics through smart infrastructure management. DNB CEO Datuk Azman Ismail said that Langakavi presents an ideal setting to show how 5G can give strength to tourism models for future, create new economic opportunities, and support Malaysia’s broader digital aspirations.
He said, “Working with Telco mobile network operators, this cooperation is designed to ensure that this initiative provides real, durable effects as a model not only for Langkavi but also for the future 5G-managed destinations in Malaysia but in Malaysia.”
According to the statement, the partnership will spread over two years, focusing on executing evidence of the concept to validate the key 5G-able solutions in the first six months.
The remaining 18 months will focus on expanding the initiative with more advanced use cases, such as 5G-Interested Autonomous Shuttle Services, AI-Pailed Smart Hospitality Solutions, and other next generation app for seamless digital tourism experiences. – Bernma
