As President Donald Trump’s administration aims to help broker peace between Russia and Ukraine, an EU official stressed that Russia must face accountability for its “crimes,” according to a report.
Michael McGrath, the European Commissioner for Democracy, Justice, Rule of Law and Consumer Protection, warned against allowing “impunity”, believing it would be a “huge historical mistake.”

“If we do that, allow impunity for those crimes, we will be sowing the seeds for the next round of aggression and the next invasion,” he said, according to the outlet. “And I believe that would be a huge historical mistake.”
