Senator Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) defended the seizure of the Venezuelan oil tanker, arguing that President Donald Trump is completely within his rights to do so and that the United States Just enforcing the ban.
during an episode of Breitbart News DailyHost Mike Slater asked the gubernatorial candidate about the Venezuelan oil tanker seizure, prompting a reaction from the left.
,[It was] Another one of your constituents, led by our Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth,” Slater said. ”Do you agree with this?” …Are the leftists calling this a shocking increase, or are we just enforcing the sanctions we’ve had in place since 2015?’
The Tennessee senator responded, “Yes – we are enforcing the ban.” “The president is within his rights on this, and it’s imperative that we enforce these sanctions. You look at what’s happened in Venezuela. When you look at the sanctions that weren’t significant, weren’t imposed on China, on Russia, and Donald Trump is saying, ‘No, the sanctions are there. It’s the law. We’ll enforce it.’
He said the left has no right to be upset over this, but they are essentially accustomed to the Biden administration ignoring the law.
“I will say, under Joe Biden’s tenure as president, he worked overtime trying to legalize the illegal and circumvent American law, and now you have Donald Trump who says, ‘No, the law is the law. We’re going to enforce it.’ And suddenly they became very upset,” she said.
He said, “We should all be on the side of law enforcement. If they don’t like the law, they can try to change the law, but they can’t build support to change the law, so they’re just trying to get around it.”
