A faulty component on an LRT3 train caused an explosion-like sound and sparks at Shah Alam Stadium station, with no injuries reported.
Shah Alam: An incident occurred on the Light Rail Transit 3 (LRT3) Shah Alam Line on July 4 due to a technical fault of a train component when it came in contact with a live conductor.
In a statement today, Rapid KL said the incident occurred at Shah Alam Stadium station at 7.05pm, resulting in a small explosion-like sound and sparks, but no injuries were reported and service operations continued as usual.
Immediately after the incident, the train was withdrawn from service and the passengers were deboarded at the next station before continuing their journey on another train.
Rapid KL said the train was later taken to the depot for detailed inspection and the affected part was replaced.
“After investigation confirmed that the train was safe to operate, the train was allowed to return to service,” it said.
The company said passenger safety remains its top priority and other trains have also been inspected and monitored as a precautionary measure.
