Georgia offensive lineman Nairn Daniels is under arrest and facing multiple serious charges.
Authorities captured the redshirt freshman after he allegedly fled from officers following a pursuit that ended in Commerce, Georgia, a town not far from the University of Georgia’s home of Athens, Georgia.
Daniels is charged with three felonies, including two counts of second-degree cruelty to children and one count of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer.
Linemen also face more minor charges, such as driving through a stop sign and reckless driving.
Officers began pursuing Daniels after he allegedly blew a stop sign at speeds of over 100 mph. Daniels’ mother reportedly intervened in the officers’ pursuit, and officers did not catch him until a Georgia coach brought him to surrender to police.
The player’s mother also faces serious charges, including speeding, running a stop sign, obstruction, fleeing, failure to maintain lane and reckless driving.
