Kuala Lumpur: IJM Corporation BHD marked Malaysia’s first artificial intelligence (AI)-AI)-A new milestone in safety technology with official deployment of Power Security Robot at Tun Razak Exchange (TRX) yesterday.
Datuk Edward Chong Sin Pest, Chief Financial Officer of IJM Group, said the initiative reflects the company’s vision to integrate AI into security tasks, enhances monitoring, efficiency and safety.
“It is the first AI-operated security robot posted in the country, and we hope that there will be more to come.
He said, “AI technology enables better monitoring, integrated with smart building systems, and allows security personnel to focus on ensuring people’s safety,” he said at the launch here.
Chong said that IJM has adopted AI-run security without increasing security costs.
The AI-operated robot, named CO-LAB, is equipped with high-definition cameras, advanced sensors and AI-powered analytics, which offers 24/7 surveillance with enhanced coverage and low blind spots.
The co-labe developed by Cabum Robotics has a seven-hour battery life per charge and features lift integration and site-map sharing capabilities, allowing it to autonomally navigate in many floors.
Chong said that unlike traditional CCTV cameras, which have fixed angles, the AI-manual robot provides eye-level monitoring, providing a more accurate area of vision that increases the risk detection.
“The robot may identify unauthorized persons after the time of the office, detect smoking violations, and even monitor the faulty escalator.
“Once a discrepancy is discovered, the system immediately warns the security authorities to a quick response.”
Currently, the company is testing robots for indoor monitoring, which plans to expand its deployment in the external environment, he said.
He emphasized that AI-managed security aligns with global trends, as many countries are rapidly benefiting robotics to increase safety and operational efficiency. – Bernma
