The American Civil Liberty Union (ACLU) of Indiana filed a case against the Trump administration on Tuesday, claiming that the legitimate status of seven international students in Indiana was abolished without alleged clarification.
The suit claims that the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS) did not give students any opportunity to challenge decisions and hence violated the appropriate procedure rights. The suit named the acting director of DHS Secretary Christie Nom and Todd Leone, US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The Trump administration has targeted hundreds of international students to engage in anti -Israeli protests in recent weeks, arguing that the administration had support for American -nominated terrorist organization Hamas. The administration has also canceled visas for international students on previous violations such as traffic violations.
“There is no poetry or reason for DHS action,” said Indiana legal director Kane Fouk K. ACLU. “To end the status of an international student, the US government must follow the regulatory standards and provide the basic fixed process, which he has failed to do.”

The plaintiff claimed that international students are allowed to maintain their legal residence status even after continuing their studies and canceling their visas.
The lawsuit asked the US district court to allow seven international students to restore their positions and continue their studies. According to ACLU of Indiana, a temporary preventive order has also been requested to provide immediate protection to students.
Among the students named in the trial, six Chinese citizens are scheduled to participate in Purdue University or Indiana University Indianaapolis. Another student is a Nigerian citizen who is participating in the Notre Dame University. Two out of the seven students were expected to graduate next month.
“The impact on the lives of these students is deep, and now they live for fear of being deported at any moment,” Fauk continued. “We are calling court to take immediate steps to prevent these illegal tasks.”

The Trump administration officials have defended the disarray of the student visa, claiming that the government reserves the right to cancel them.
“A student visa has no right,” Secretary Marco Rubio Told reporters on 28 March. “We can cancel a student visa under the law in the same way that we can deny a student visa under the law. And we will do so in cases that we find appropriate,”
